Are you interested in serving in our student ministry?
All applicants must complete the questions listed for any volunteer position at Kenmore Alliance Church. They are used to help our church provide a safe and secure environment for those who participate in our program and use our facilities. We reserve the right to deny an application based upon information given. ALL INFORMATION GIVEN IS CONFIDENTIAL.
Below are the requirements to be a volunteer small group leader in KAC YOUTHMIN175:
Because of who we are in Christ, the organization we represent, and the impressionable age we work with, each of us must strive for holiness in every area of our lives. Acts 20:28 - “Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood.” Titus 2:7 - “Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity, and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us.” 1 Thess 5:20-22 “Abstain from all appearance of evil.”
1. The 6 Month Rule - You must have been attending Kenmore Alliance for at least 6 months prior to applying to be a YouthMIN175 volunteer.
2. Age Gap Rule - High School Leaders: Must be at least 2 years out of High School (for example: Grad June 2019, cannot be a youth leader until at least Fall of 2021). Middle School Leaders: Must be at least 2 years out of Middle School (for example: a junior or senior in High School is allowed to be a “Jr.” Middle School youth leader).
3. Be a growing Christian – regularly spend time with God through praise and worship, Bible reading and prayer on your own time. In order to inspire authentic faith with your small group, you must practice and prioritize authentic faith in your own life. You are also required to be involved in some form of group Bible study, mentorship or accountability outside of the Sunday Church services. ConnectàGrowàServe
4. Be present – Show up consistently: do your best to miss no more than one youth group night per month. If you have to miss, please make sure that Adam or Kate know as well as your co-small group leader. Do your best to be on time to youth group (6:15pm start). Show up mentally: engage and participate with your students and be focused on them when you are here.
5. Be accountable – Attend youth leader meetings (at 8:45pm each youth group night and trainings once per month). Be willing to meet with the youth pastor/staff to discuss your walk with God, accountability, godly living and character.
6. Lead by example - Lead your group in a way that they will value acceptance, confidentiality and honesty. Be genuine. Take a stand against any negative peer pressure. You must NOT have a lifestyle that is contrary to Biblical principles. (1 Pet 1:15)
- Participate in greeting youth and “mingling” with parents, our students and connecting with new youth and their families that are visiting our church.
- Support the leadership of our Youth Group and within our Church. Do not spread gossip or talk negatively about people/situations that you are not in agreement with church leadership.
- Do not post inappropriate images, comments or opinions on Social Media.
- Do not post pictures where your intentions with alcohol are unclear.
- Do not use illegal drugs. If you are of drinking age: do not get drunk; exercise discernment of your use of alcohol in public areas.
